Picking the right career for your child is quite the task today for parents, what with the huge generational gap that exists due to the tools available to the child thanks to the democratization of information by way of the internet. In fact, your child happens to know more about and appears to be more keyed into the career options out there, whereas the parents appear uninformed. Narrowing down on a career path is thus, also an exercise in educating the parents.
Hence, it’s important that you get the help of a proper and professional career coach able to assess the strengths and weaknesses of your child’s mental landscape in a methodical manner which gives a certain freedom from doubt and a feeling of safety, not only with regards to the process, but also the outcome.

Hello Vinayak,
I would like to express my gratitude and appreciation to you for helping Sumedh identifying his motivations, strengths and areas of interests so as to suggest possible career options for him and the educational and professional journey to achieve his life objectives.
What I liked about the same is the professional & scientific approach adopted for the same.
You spent good amount of time with Sumedh to understand his interests, doubts and career options that he would like to pursue. He had doubts around difference between MBA & PGDM, MBA in India or abroad, MBA immediately after graduation or after few years of work experience, MBA in Finance or Marketing.
This was followed by a scientific assessment of Sumedh using a psychometric test from CareersUplift. Per my understanding, this is a test that has been designed for individuals based on their age and education. The test was designed to identify Sumedh’s capabilities and interests based on his responses to a series of questions.
The test generated a detailed report, which gave specific details of Sumedh’s key Drivers, Strengths, Interests and probable career options in line with the same. Though the report was very elaborate and self-explanatory, you spent a good amount of time with Sumedh & myself, to walk us through the report and explain everything in detail. That definitely helped us get a proper perspective of what the report entails.
You explained to us the route/courses that Sumedh would need to take to get to his recommended career. The approach was to present the options available and pros & cons of the same, so that Sumedh can take an informed decision about the next steps. It was good that you insisted that one parent, in our case, me attend this session along with Sumedh. It also helped clarify some of my doubts, concerns with respect to Sumedh’s career.
You spent time, addressing in detail, Sumedh’s doubts that he had expressed during the first session with you. That has definitely helped him have a clear understanding of what each entails.
The best part was you were able to leverage your own educational qualifications & corporate experience to be very specific in your response/guidance.
